SHD Sim Multiphysics
Electro-thermal-mechanical
Joule heating driving thermal stress
Elmer + code_aster
In development.
This module is phase 4 — one-way mapping comes well before two-way. The solver behind it is chosen and its capability is known. SHD Sim is available today.
What it is
Three physics in a chain: current heats a part, the heat expands it, and restraint turns that expansion into stress. Each step is well understood alone; the value is carrying the result through without retyping numbers between three tools.
What this analysis needs from you
- Electrical, thermal and mechanical properties for every material
- Elmer for the electro-thermal half and code_aster for the mechanical
- A duty cycle if fatigue rather than peak stress is the question
Typical uses
- Power electronics packaging and solder joint life
- Busbar expansion at fault current
- Induction heating followed by distortion
- Battery tab and interconnect assessment
Industries
Sectors where this analysis is routinely asked for.
- Power electronics
- Busbar systems
- Battery packs
- Electric machines
What comes out
- Temperature from real current paths
- Expansion stress that follows
- Solder and joint severity input
- Duty-cycle response
Backend
Elmer + code_aster
Chosen for this analysis type, with its capability verified against the module plan — not decided later.
Status
Phase 4 — one-way mapping comes well before two-way. Telling us you need this analysis moves it up the order — modules are sequenced by who is waiting for them.
