Pressure loads to structure
Surface pressure mapped onto an FE mesh, then stress and deflection
MEDCoupling
In development.
What it is
A CFD run produces surface pressure, that pressure maps onto an FE mesh which does not match it node for node, and a structural case gives stress and deflection. One direction, no coupling library, no iteration, and it answers the most commonly asked coupled question in engineering.
What this analysis needs from you
- A converged CFD run, and an FE mesh of the same part
- A mapping scheme between non-matching surface meshes
- A view on whether the structure moves enough to change the flow; if it does, this is not enough
Typical uses
- Will this bracket survive the flow loads
- Wind loading on structures and cladding
- Valve and manifold stress under operating pressure
- Hydrodynamic loading on submerged structures
Industries
Sectors where this analysis is routinely asked for.
- Wind-loaded structures
- Valves & manifolds
- Marine appendages
- Aerospace surfaces
What comes out
- Structural stress under real flow loads
- Deflection under pressure
- Mapped load verification
- Margin under operating conditions

Status
Phase 4 — one-way mapping comes well before two-way. Telling us you need this analysis moves it up the order — modules are sequenced by who is waiting for them.
