SHD Sim Explicit
Battery crush and abuse
Mechanical abuse testing
OpenRadioss
In development.
What it is
Mechanical abuse of a cell or pack, where the engineering question and the regulatory question are the same one: does deformation breach the separator and start a short. The mechanics are explicit crush; the consequence is thermal, and the interesting part is the boundary between them.
What this analysis needs from you
- Cell-level material representation, which is a modelling problem of its own
- Crush and intrusion load cases from the relevant standard
- A criterion for what counts as failure, which is rarely just stress
Typical uses
- EV pack intrusion and crash safety
- Cell-level crush and nail penetration
- Regulatory abuse testing support
- Pack structure and enclosure design
Industries
Sectors where this analysis is routinely asked for.
- EV & automotive
- Battery manufacturers
- Aviation batteries
- Regulatory testing
What comes out
- Deformation into the cell stack
- Separator breach indication
- Intrusion versus load history
- Pack protection comparison

Status
Phase 5 — a market decision more than a technical one. Telling us you need this analysis moves it up the order — modules are sequenced by who is waiting for them.
