Sheet-metal forming and stamping
Springback, thinning, formability
OpenRadioss
In development.
What it is
Drawing sheet into a die, with the answers being whether it tears, whether it wrinkles, and how much it springs back when the tool opens. Springback is the one that costs money: the part is right in the press and wrong on the bench, and the tool has already been cut.
What this analysis needs from you
- An anisotropic sheet material model, since rolled sheet is not isotropic
- Tool geometry, blank holder force and friction
- A forming limit diagram for the material and thickness
Typical uses
- Die face and blank shape development
- Springback compensation before tool cutting
- Formability assessment against the forming limit diagram
- Thinning and tearing prediction
Industries
Sectors where this analysis is routinely asked for.
- Automotive stamping
- Appliances
- Aerospace panels
- Packaging
What comes out
- Thinning and tearing prediction
- Wrinkling zones
- Springback shape
- Compensated tool guidance

Phase 5 — a market decision more than a technical one. Telling us you need this analysis moves it up the order — modules are sequenced by who is waiting for them.
