Air blast and shock loading
OpenRadioss
In development.
What it is
A pressure wave loading a structure over milliseconds, either as an empirical blast curve or as a coupled fluid solution. The loading is over before the structure has finished responding, so peak response happens after the load has gone, which is why static equivalents mislead.
What this analysis needs from you
- A blast load definition: charge weight and standoff, or a coupled model
- High strain-rate material data
- A time window long enough to catch the response after the load ends
Typical uses
- Protective structure and facade design
- Blast-resistant equipment qualification
- Vessel rupture and overpressure assessment
- Military and security applications
Industries
Sectors where this analysis is routinely asked for.
- Defence & security
- Petrochemical
- Critical infrastructure
- Mining
What comes out
- Structural response to the pulse
- Peak deflections after the load has gone
- Standoff sensitivity
- Protection adequacy

Status
Phase 5 — a market decision more than a technical one. Telling us you need this analysis moves it up the order — modules are sequenced by who is waiting for them.
