Rainflow counting, S-N and Miner from a stress result
our own post-processing
In development.
What it is
Most structures fail from cycling well below their static strength. Rainflow counting reduces a messy stress history into a set of cycles at different amplitudes, an S-N curve says how many of each the material tolerates, and Miner's rule sums the damage. It is arithmetic on a stress result you already have, not a second solve.
What this analysis needs from you
- A stress result, which means a static or transient run first
- An S-N curve for the material and surface condition
- A load history or duty cycle to count against
- A mean-stress correction, and a view on which one your code expects
Typical uses
- Life prediction for cyclically loaded structures
- Comparing two designs on durability rather than peak stress
- Assessing a variable-amplitude duty cycle from measured data
- Finding which load case in a duty cycle actually does the damage

Status
Phase 2 — the next module after CFD. Telling us you need this analysis moves it up the order — modules are sequenced by who is waiting for them.
